Hellifield Peel, near Skipton, is one of 14 structures in the region to be taken off English Heritage's At Risk register this year, including Harewood Castle, in Leeds, and Gayle Mill, in Hawes, which made it through to the final of the BBC's Restoration programme last year. The fortified tower house, built to protect villagers from marauding Scots, is now being turned into a three-storey family home and its transformation will feature on next year's Grand Designs TV series
